Direct Support Provider - Adult Services

GENERAL SCOPE OF WORK

The Direct Support Provider, under professional supervision, accepts life skills educational assignments from Supervisor or other

designated personnel, participates in client staffing's, develops and implements living skills training assignments according to frequency

and intensity determined on the current treatment plan, coordinates these assignments with case management activities, maintains client

progress notes for interventions assigned to them, and performs other duties as assigned. The Crisis Response Behavioral Health Worker

additionally is qualified as a BHT and credentialed/trained in performing crisis assessments and intervention

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

I: Associates Degree OR High School Diploma/GED AND 6 weeks behavioral health work experience; or 6 weeks continuous on-site
direction from a behavioral health professional, Behavioral Health Technician or Behavioral Health Paraprofessional who has at least 6
months behavioral health work experience. II: Bachelor's Degree in behavioral health field. Educational background should include
courses in human behavior, family systems, counseling theory and substance abuse education OR Bachelor's Degree in any field and one
year experience working with behavioral health clients OR High School Diploma or GED plus any combination of behavioral health
education training and experience totaling four years.

1. Maintains established agency policies and procedures, confidentiality standards, performance improvement initiatives,
safety, environment of care, productivity standards, management of information, and infection control standards.
2. Utilizes excellent customer service skills at all times.
3. Complies with federal and state law, accrediting and licensing agencies at all times, to include but not limited to, Joint
Commission and federal compliance regulations.
4. Interacts with clients and staff in a culturally competent manner that takes into account factors such as age,
developmental or acquired disabilities, religion and spiritual orientation, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sexual
orientation, indigenous heritage, national origin, and gender.
5. Facilitates individual and group living skills training.
6. Provides case management activities, as required.
7. Assists clients with personal care needs, as required.
8. Transportation to/from client services as required.
9. Participation in client staffings.
10. Maintains client progress notes pertinent to specific interventions.
11. Coordination of activities with departmental staff, physicians, state/community, case management coordinators, and
other resource agencies as required.
12. Complies with federal, state, RBHA, and payer standards and guidelines.
13. Maintains clinical productivity as defined in the Spectrum Clinical Work Standards.
14. Keeps informed of current literature and evidence-based practices in behavioral health field related to populations
served and modalities used.
15. Conducts self in professional manner at all times; is cooperative and flexible with team members and management;

BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS


Employees of Spectrum Healthcare should be able to: frequently sit for long periods of time, frequently move from one
location to another within the clinic, occasionally carry a minimum of 15 pounds, constantly participate in ordinary conversation,
frequently participate in telephone conversation, be able to speak, read, and write fluently in English, have basic computer skills, have
acuity in near and far vision, work under stress, work under strict time constraints, work under possible emergent situations, prioritize
workload, evaluate personal/professional strengths/weaknesses in handling personal/professional frustrations.
In addition, employees must: be able to obtain a Level 1 fingerprint card, be at least 18 years old. All direct care staff must
have current American Heart Association approved CPR/First Aid certification or training for healthcare providers.
