Position Overview
As a Crisis Response Specialist I, you will provide prompt, community-based support to individuals experiencing behavioral health crises. You will respond to calls from crisis hotlines, law enforcement, first responders, and supervisors while helping individuals move toward safety, stability, and the appropriate level of care.
This position is ideal for someone who communicates clearly, remains composed in stressful situations, and works well with clients, families, first responders, behavioral health professionals, and community partners.
What You'll Do
- Respond promptly to behavioral health crisis calls throughout the community
- Complete crisis assessments and provide immediate crisis intervention
- Develop safety plans based on each individual's needs
- Work closely with law enforcement, first responders, supervisors, and behavioral health professionals
- Help determine the safest and most appropriate level of care
- Connect individuals with hospitals, treatment programs, community resources, and support services
- Provide crisis-related transportation when necessary
- Conduct community well checks
- Prepare clear, accurate, and timely clinical documentation
- Assist with Title 36 applications when appropriate
- Participate in clinical team meetings, supervision, and required training
- Maintain professionalism, compassion, and confidentiality during every interaction
What We're Looking For
Candidates must qualify as a Behavioral Health Paraprofessional (BHPP) or Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) and have fewer than two years of crisis response experience.
You may qualify through one of the following pathways:
- High school diploma with applicable behavioral health experience, training, or supervised on-site support
- High school diploma with at least two years of behavioral health experience
- Bachelor's degree in any field or an accredited BHT certification with applicable behavioral health experience
- Bachelor's or master's degree in a human services-related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous crisis response experience
- Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist credential
- Knowledge of behavioral health conditions, substance use disorders, crisis intervention, and community resources
- Experience completing crisis assessments, safety plans, or clinical documentation
Additional Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Current Arizona driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Current American Heart Association-approved CPR and First Aid certification for healthcare providers
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and respond to crisis situations in the community
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and compassionate in stressful or emergent situations
- Basic computer skills and strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to occasionally lift or carry at least 15 pounds
